Makuhari Messe Guide
A complete guide to Makuhari Messe (Chiba, Kaihin-Makuhari), covering access, hall layout, flagship events, and nearby hotels — home to CEATEC and the Japan Mobility Show.
Overview
Makuhari Messe, located in Mihama-ku, Chiba, is one of Japan’s largest convention complexes. It combines International Exhibition Halls 1–11, an International Conference Hall, and the Makuhari Event Hall for roughly 75,000 square meters of exhibition space. CEATEC, Tokyo Game Show, and the Japan Mobility Show (formerly Tokyo Motor Show) are staged here — the center of gravity for Japan’s flagship B2B trade shows.
Access
About five minutes on foot from Kaihin-Makuhari Station (JR Keiyo Line). From Tokyo Station, the Keiyo Line takes roughly 30 minutes. Limousine buses run to/from Haneda (about 60 minutes) and Narita (40–50 minutes), making the venue highly accessible for both domestic and inbound visitors.
Facilities
The International Exhibition Halls are split into two wings (Halls 1–8 and Halls 9–11), which can be operated independently, enabling concurrent events or zoned layouts. The International Conference Hall offers around 20 meeting rooms of various sizes — ideal for co-located conferences and academic programs. The Makuhari Event Hall is acoustically tuned and hosts concerts and ceremonies as well.
Nearby Hotels
APA Hotel & Resort Tokyo Bay Makuhari, Hotel New Otani Makuhari, and Hilton Tokyo Bay (Maihama) sit within walking or short taxi distance. Rooms sell out fast during major shows, so book venue-adjacent properties as early as possible.
Tips
Entry queues peak on the first morning and the final afternoon. Shift your arrival to the middle of the day to avoid bottlenecks. Most major shows support online pre-registration — a must for international attendees. On-site F&B fills up at noon, so aim for 11am or 2pm for a calmer meal.
