Sunshine City is a large-scale convention and retail complex located in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. Since its opening in 1978, it has served as a hub for trade shows, international conferences, academic events, and corporate functions. The Sunshine City Prince Hotel is directly attached, and the complex integrates shopping, restaurants, and an aquarium — all in one destination.

With Exhibition Halls A through D and 29 conference rooms, the facility accommodates everything from small seminars to large-scale exhibitions with thousands of attendees. Despite being steps away from one of Tokyo’s busiest train terminals, the venue is directly connected by an underground passage to Higashi-Ikebukuro Station, making navigation straightforward even for first-time visitors.

Tips Before You Visit

Escalator Works in Sunshine 60 (Until April 2028)

Escalators within the Sunshine 60 building (covering B2F–4F, 10 units in total) are partially suspended for renovation from September 2025 through the end of April 2028. Use elevators or stairs and refer to in-building signage for detour routes.

Use Public Transit on Event Days

On days when major exhibitions or conferences are held — especially weekends and public holidays — roads and parking around the facility become heavily congested, leading to significant delays for buses and taxis. Public transit is strongly recommended.

The Underground Passage Keeps You Dry

The underground passage from Higashi-Ikebukuro Station (Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line), Exits 6 and 7, connects directly to Sunshine City without any outdoor exposure. This is particularly useful in rainy weather or when carrying heavy bags.

Higashi-Ikebukuro Station Is Faster Than Ikebukuro Station

Walking from Ikebukuro Station Exit 35 takes approx. 8 min, whereas the underground route from Higashi-Ikebukuro Station takes approx. 3 min. If time is a priority, use the Yurakucho Line to Higashi-Ikebukuro Station.

Partial Closures in Sunshine 60 Worker Support Area

The worker support area on floors 4 and 6 of the Sunshine 60 building (approx. 800 tsubo / 2,640 sqm) is scheduled to open progressively from summer 2026. Construction began in March 2026, so portions of those floors may be closed during this period.
